Jim Shephard is an investor, director and trustee, and educator. He is a Founder and the Chairman of Nulia, Inc. with a focus on raising capital, international growth and corporate governance and is on the boards of ComputeNext, Inc. and Red Duck Foods, Inc. He is also a Courtesy Professor of Law at the University of Oregon’s Clark Honors College. He has global business experience and was formerly an international corporate finance lawyer with Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York and Paris, and served in senior management roles in the financial services industry, including as CEO of Banque AIG, a French bank, and CEO of AIG Asset Management (Europe) Ltd, a UK regulated asset management company. He is involved in volunteer and philanthropic activities as a Trustee of the University of Oregon Foundation, where he served as Chair from 2016-2018, and as a member of the Advisory Council of the Clark Honors College. He graduated from the University of Oregon’s Clark Honors College where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He also obtained graduate degrees (Maîtrise and DEA) with high distinction (mention très bien) from the University of Poitiers (France) and a law degree with distinction (Magna Cum Laude) from Tulane University. He was twice a Fulbright Scholar and has published articles on the history of law and commerce.
